Cape Crillon is a land tip at the bottom of Sakhalin.

It sits near the La Pérouse Strait. This is a body of water. Across the water is Cape Soya in Japan. A man from France found this place first. His name was Jean-François de La Pérouse. He gave the cape its name.

Today, many things are at the cape. There is a lighthouse to guide ships. There is also a weather station. A military base is there too. People have even thought about a tunnel. This tunnel would connect Russia and Japan by rail.

Old things were found at the cape. Long ago, people built walls of packed earth. These are called ruins. Some people think a ruling family from the Yuan dynasty made them. A general named Yangwuludai may have built a castle there. It was called Guohuo. On the west coast, there is a rock. It was once called Anvil Rock.
