One of the most amazing things about this shark is where it lives. Most sharks stay in the salty ocean. But bull sharks are euryhaline. This means they can live in both salt water and fresh water. They can swim far up rivers. One shark even traveled 1,100 kilometres up the Mississippi River!

How do they do this? They have special body parts to help them. Their kidneys and gills help them manage salt. Their liver also helps them stay balanced in different water.

Young bull sharks often stay in fresh river water. This helps them stay safe. As they grow older, they move into the salty ocean. This is where they find most of their food. Adult females are usually larger than males. Some very large females can weigh over 600 kg. This makes them some of the biggest sharks in their group.
