Bruno Rossi was an Italian-American physicist. He spent his life studying cosmic rays. These are tiny particles that travel through space.

Rossi was very good at building tools. He made an improved electronic coincidence circuit. This tool helped scientists find rare events. It could tell when many particles hit at once. This helped him study how cosmic rays move.

Rossi traveled to Eritrea to do more tests. He used a cosmic ray telescope there. He found that more particles came from the West than the East. This showed that cosmic rays have a charge.

Later, Rossi looked at space using X-rays. X-rays are a type of light. He helped build tools for the Explorer 10 satellite. This tool found the magnetopause. The magnetopause is a place where space plasma meets Earth's magnetic field. He also helped find the first source of X-rays outside our solar system. His work helped us understand the stars and space much better.
