An expert named Elmer Riggs found its bones in 1900. He found them in Colorado. The name Brachiosaurus means "arm lizard." This is because its arms were very long.

Its front legs were longer than its back legs. This made its body slope upward. It had a very long neck and a small head. It also had a short tail. Because of its shape, it looked a bit like a giraffe.

This dinosaur was a high browser. This means it ate plants high off the ground. Scientists once thought it was ectothermic. This means it relied on the sun for heat. Now, many think it was warm-blooded instead.
