It sits in the Lost River Range. This range is in central Idaho. The peak is part of the Challis National Forest.

In 2021, experts found something special. Borah Peak has a glacier. A glacier is a large mass of ice. It is the only active glacier in Idaho.

Many people like to climb this mountain. The most popular way is the southwest ridge. This path is a hard hike. Near the top, there is a narrow part. Climbers call it Chicken-out Ridge. Some people stop there because it looks scary.

In cold times, the ridge has deep snow.

The mountain has a long history. It was named after William Borah. He was a famous leader from Idaho. In 1983, a big earthquake hit the area. The ground moved a lot near the peak. This event left a scar on the western side.

You can still see the mark today. The view from the top is great. It shows the high peaks of the range.
