This happens through a tube in a vein. Doctors use this to replace blood parts that are lost.

Blood is made of different parts. Red blood cells carry oxygen to the body. Plasma is a yellowish liquid that helps the body stay healthy.

Platelets are small parts that help the blood clot. Clotting stops the body from bleeding too much.

Before a transfusion, doctors must be very careful. They must make sure the blood is a good match. This is called compatibility testing. They check the blood type, like the ABO system. If the blood is not a match, it can cause clumping.

Most blood comes from donors. These are people who give blood to help others. Doctors test the donated blood for germs. They also separate it into parts. This way, a person only gets the parts they need. This makes the treatment safer for everyone.
