A blimp is a type of airship. It is also called a non-rigid airship. This means it has no hard frame inside.

Instead, the blimp stays shaped by gas pressure. It uses a light gas like helium to float. To keep its shape, the blimp uses ballonets. These are small air bags inside the main shell.

If the gas volume changes, the blimp pumps air into these bags. This keeps the pressure steady. Without this pressure, the blimp would lose its shape. It would also be hard to steer.

Blimps are great for many jobs. They fly slowly and stay very steady. This helps people use them for ads. They also work well for watching things from above.
