The biceps is a large muscle in your upper arm.

It sits between your shoulder and your elbow. The name biceps means "two-headed muscle of the arm." This is because it has two parts called heads. One is the short head. The other is the long head. These two parts join to make one big muscle belly.

The long head is special. It crosses two joints. It goes through the shoulder and the elbow. This helps it do many jobs. One job is to flex your elbow. This helps you lift things like a bag of food. Another job is supination. This is the way your forearm turns your palm up.

The biceps is a very strong supinator. It attaches to a bone called the radius. Most people have two heads. But some people have a third head. This is a normal change in the body. You can make this muscle strong. Many people use weights to do this. They might do a bicep curl. This is a common way to train.
