Bertram Brockhouse was a famous scientist from Canada. He was a physicist. This means he studied how the world works. He was born in Lethbridge, Alberta. He went to school at two big colleges. He studied at the University of British Columbia. Later, he studied at the University of Toronto.

Brockhouse worked in a lab for many years. He studied tiny things called neutrons. He found a way to use neutrons to study matter. Matter is the stuff that makes up everything. He used a set of steps called neutron spectroscopy. This helped him see how small parts move.

His work was very important. In 1994, he won the Nobel Prize in Physics. He shared this prize with Clifford Shull. It took 36 years after his work to win the prize. This was the longest wait ever for the award. People named a street Brockhouse Way to honor him. A town also named a street after him. Now, scientists win the Brockhouse Medal for great work in his name.
