Berserk is a famous Japanese manga series.

Kentaro Miura created this dark fantasy story. It follows a warrior named Guts. Guts carries a huge sword. He travels through a world that looks like medieval Europe. The story also features Griffith. He is the leader of a group called the Band of the Hawk.

Miura began the series in 1989. He wanted to make a "dark hero." This means a main character who faces many hard times. The art in Berserk is very detailed. People love the way the characters look and act. This work won the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2002.

Many people watch Berserk on TV, too. There are anime shows and movies based on the books.

The series is very popular. It has sold over 70 million copies around the world. After Miura died in 2021, his friends helped finish the work. His friend Kouji Mori and a group called Studio Gaga now lead the series. They work to keep Miura's vision alive for fans.
