He lived from 1633 to 1714. Many people call him the father of occupational medicine. This means he was a pioneer in studying how jobs affect health. He wanted to know how work could make people sick. His ideas helped create a new way to care for workers.

In his book, he looked at more than fifty different jobs. He found that chemicals, dust, and metals could be dangerous. He also saw how repetitive or violent motions could hurt the body. Even odd postures could lead to health problems for workers.

He had a very special way of thinking about medicine. Ramazzini believed that prevention is better than a cure. He said it is easier to avoid harm than to fix it later.

He told doctors to ask a new question. They should ask their patients, "What is your occupation?" This helps doctors understand how a person's work might be making them unwell. This simple question changed how doctors help people.

Ramazzini was born in Carpi on 4 October 1633. He studied medicine at the University of Parma. Later, he held important teaching jobs in Italy. He was a teacher at the University of Modena in 1682. He also taught at the University of Padua starting in 1700. He published the first edition of his big book in 1700. The second edition came out in 1713 in Padua. He died in Padua on 5 November 1714.

He also did important work with a sickness called malaria.

Ramazzini helped people by supporting the use of cinchona bark. This bark contains quinine, which is used to treat malaria. Some people wrongly thought quinine did not work. Ramazzini knew it was very important for medicine. His work with bark and his work with jobs both helped people stay healthy. Today, we still use his ideas to keep workplaces safe.
