Most birds eat meat. But this bird is special. It eats 70% to 90% bones. It can even eat bones months after other animals are gone.

This bird has a clever way to eat. It finds bones that are too big to swallow. The bird picks up the bone in its beak. It flies high into the air. Then, it drops the bone onto rocks. The bone breaks into small pieces. This lets the bird reach the marrow inside. The marrow is very good for the bird. It takes a long time to learn this skill. Young birds may practice for seven years.

Bearded vultures live in high mountains. They live in places like Europe, Africa, and Asia.
