The Bay of Biscay is a large part of the Atlantic Ocean.

It sits between the coasts of France and Spain. In France, people call it the Gulf of Gascony. In Spain, it is known as the Gulf of Biscay. The southern part is called the Cantabrian Sea.

The water can be quite shallow in many areas. This makes the sea very rough and wild. Heavy storms often hit the bay during the winter.

You might see thick fog in the late spring. Powerful winds can also move through the area very fast.

Many rivers flow into the bay. These include the Loire and the Garonne rivers. Many big cities sit near the shore. You can find cities like Bilbao and Bordeaux there.

Life lives in these waters too. Many whales and dolphins swim in the deep parts. You can see them from large ferry ships. The Plaiaundi Ecology Park is a wet land near the coast. It is home to many birds, insects, and reptiles.
