Baqubah has many different parts. There is an old area for visitors. There is also a newer area called New Baqubah. In the past, the city was a place for travelers. It was a stop on an old road.

The city has seen many hard times. During the Iraq war, there was much fighting. Some people had to leave their homes. In 2007, some parts of the city felt empty. This was because of the danger. Many people stayed inside to stay safe. The city has many neighborhoods where people live today. Some parts are in the east and some are in the west.
