Badges can be made of many things. Some are metal. Others are plastic, leather, or cloth. You might see them on a jacket, a bag, or even a shoe.

In the past, badges were like fine jewelry. Some were made of gold or silver. Other people wore simple badges made of lead. In the Middle Ages, some people wore badges after a long trip called a pilgrimage.
