First, the animal taps on tree trunks. It can tap up to eight times every second. It listens for an echo to find hollow spots. These spots hold tasty grubs or larvae. Next, the aye-aye uses its teeth to gnaw a hole. Finally, it uses a very thin middle finger to pull the grubs out.
