arts Maturity 9-11 Next article →

Austrian literature is a rich world of stories and poems. Most of it is written in German. For a long time, writing was very different in Austria. In the early 1700s, a visitor found almost no writers there. The royal court used art to show power. They liked music and grand palaces. But they did not always support books. Some leaders even banned books to control what people thought.
