Music can change its sound.

Bach Cantata 29 Sinfonia 02
Bach Cantata 29 Sinfonia 02

One person writes a tune. Then, others make it sound different. This is called an arrangement.

An arranger can add new instruments. They can change how a song feels. They might add a new ending. This gives the melody variety.

Bach once changed a violin piece. He made it for a big group. This helped the wind instruments play it.

In jazz, players sometimes do this from memory. These are called head arrangements. They do not write them down.

Arrangers make music special. They help us hear old songs in new ways.
