Arnold Ehret was a man from Germany. He loved to draw and paint. He also studied science. He thought some foods were bad for us. He said these foods made sticky mucus in the body.

Ehret taught a way called the Mucusless Diet Healing System. He believed that fruit was the best food. He said fruit helps the body stay clean. He also taught people to try fasting. Fasting means eating less to help the body.

Ehret had many ideas about how the body works. He thought the lungs act like a pump. He thought the heart acts like a valve. He believed that white blood cells were caused by eating mucus-forming foods. He said these cells could poison the blood. Medical experts say these ideas have no scientific basis. They also say his ideas can be dangerous.

Ehret lived in many places. He lived in Switzerland and the United States. He even opened a clinic for health. He wrote many books about food. He died in 1922 after a fall on a street. Some people still follow his diet today.
