Arm wrestling is a sport of strength. Two people face each other at a table. They grip hands very tight. Each person tries to pin the other hand down. To win, a player must force the opponent's hand to the table pad.

This sport has a long history. In Japan, it was called wrist wrestling. Art from the 1700s shows people playing it. In the 1800s, some players in Cuba and Spain used money. They put a coin under each elbow.

Today, pros use special tables. These tables have pads for elbows and hands. They also have pegs. Players hold the pegs with their free hand. This helps them stay steady. Sometimes, players use a strap to tie their hands together. This keeps them from slipping.

There are three main ways to play. The hook uses wrist and arm strength. The toproll uses pressure to open the opponent's hand. The press uses the shoulder and chest to push.
