Arakan Mountains

geography Maturity 7-9 Next article →

The Arakan Mountains are in Myanmar. They sit between the coast and a big river. These hills are very long. They go from the south to the north.

The mountains act like a wall. They stop the rain from moving east. This makes one side very wet. The other side stays dry.

Many animals live in the forests. You might see an elephant there. A special turtle lives there too. People thought it was gone forever.

Long ago, these hills kept people apart. This helped them grow in their own way. It also kept some armies away.

These mountains are a very grand sight.
