People keep bees there for honey. Bees also help plants grow. This is called pollination.

Apiaries can be in cities or the country.

In cities, hives may sit on high ground. Beekeepers might build tall fences. This helps bees fly higher to find food.

Bees need sun and water to live. They also need flowers for food. Many apiaries sit near farms or gardens. This helps both the bees and the plants.

Some apiaries are very large. Others are small. Large groups can make more honey. But too many bees can fight for food.

Beekeepers work hard to keep bees safe. They help them stay healthy. It is a very old job.
