Antony Flew was a famous English philosopher. He spent his life thinking about big ideas. He taught at many universities. These included Oxford and Reading. He also taught in Canada.

For most of his life, Flew was an atheist. An atheist is someone who does not believe in a god. He argued that people should not assume a god exists. He said we should wait for real evidence first. He wrote a book about this idea in 1976.

In 2004, Flew surprised many people. He said his views had changed. He now believed in a god. He called this belief Deism. A Deist believes a creator made the universe. Flew thought the universe was like a fine watch. He believed a designer made it work, but that designer does not step in to help humans. He felt the complexity of life was a sign of this designer. He wrote a book about his new views in 2007. He said he always wanted to follow where the evidence led him.
