Scalia had a specific way of looking at the law. He believed in a method called textualism. This means looking at the exact words of a law. He also believed in something called originalism. This means looking at what the Constitution meant when it was first written. He would write notes to his fellow judges to help them see his view. He called these notes "Ninograms" after his nickname, "Nino."
