Bruckner wrote many types of music. He is most famous for his symphonies. A symphony is a long piece of music for an orchestra. His music was very new and bold. It used many different sounds. Some people thought his music was too wild or long. They did not always like his new style.

Bruckner was also a very hard worker. He often changed his music to make it better. He studied music theory for a long time. Even though some critics were mean, many other musicians admired him. His friend Gustav Mahler was one of them. Bruckner's music is still played by many people today.
