This is called anthropomorphism. It is when we give human traits to non-human things. This can mean giving animals human speech or faces. It can also mean giving human feelings to trees or toys.

People have done this for a very long time. One of the oldest examples is a small statue.

It has a human body and a lion head. It is about 32,000 years old. Some think this helped early hunters understand animals.

We see this in many famous stories. Fables use talking animals to teach lessons.

The Panchatantra is an old collection of tales from India. You might also see this in fairy tales. For example, an ant helps a girl in a Roman story.

Modern books use this idea too. Alice in Wonderland features a rabbit that talks.

Other books show animals that act like people. This helps readers connect with the characters. It makes the stories feel very real and special.
