Allan Kaprow was a famous American artist. He wanted to blend art with real life. He did this by making things called Happenings. A Happening was not a show to watch. It was an event where people joined in. Kaprow saw these events as games or adventures. He wanted to break the wall between the artist and the viewer. In his art, the people watching became part of the piece.

Kaprow used many everyday items for his work. He used things like chairs, food, and old socks. He even used ice cubes. In one piece, people touched ice until it melted. In another piece called "Eat," people went into a cave. They walked through dark halls and ate fruit. They could drink wine and eat bread. This piece used all the senses. It even used the sound of ticking clocks. Kaprow's work changed how people thought about art. Many other artists learned from his new ideas.
