Writing a comic involves many steps and different skills. At first, Moore tried to both write and draw his own stories. He eventually realized he could not draw fast enough to make a living. He decided to focus only on the writing part. To learn how to do this well, he practiced writing short stories. He wrote many four or five-page stories for a magazine called 2000 AD. This helped him learn how to build a good story.
