When Breaking Bad began production, the series creator, Vince Gilligan, had originally planned for Jesse Pinkman to die during the first season. However, Gilligan observed a unique chemistry between Paul and the lead actor, Bryan Cranston. This connection prompted Gilligan to modify the series' trajectory to include Jesse as a central character. This decision proved highly successful for both the show and the actor. Paul received numerous nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He won the award in 2010, 2012, and 2014.

Throughout his career, Paul has demonstrated remarkable versatility across many different media formats.
