It sits in the West Siberian Plain. This area is near the Bolshoy Yugan River. The reserve was made in 1982. It covers a very large area. Most of the land is swamp. Only 36% of the land has trees. The rest is wet marshland. Much of the forest is spruce. You can also find cedar and fir trees there. The weather is subarctic. This means summers are mild. Winters are very cold and snowy. The land is frost-free for 92 days on average. Many animals call this place home. There are 40 kinds of mammals. Most of these are rodents, which are small animals like mice. Large animals include bears, lynx, and wolverine. Elk and forest reindeer live there too.
