One land was in the north. The other was in the south. They had different leaders.

In the north, people found oil. This helped their land grow. In the south, people also wanted change. They wanted to be free.

Finding oil near the border helped. It gave them a reason to work together.

The leaders made a plan.

In 1990, the two lands became one. They called this new land Yemen. They chose a city called Sanaa to be the capital.

Now, they share one flag. They also share one way to talk about their history. It was a big change for everyone.
