Three brothers named Zhang Jue, Zhang Bao, and Zhang Liang tried to help. They were part of a group called Taoists. They acted as healers for the sick. Many people trusted them. Zhang Jue told his followers that a new era was coming. He said the sky should be yellow. Because of this, the rebels wore yellow scarves. They were called the Yellow Turbans.

In 184 AD, the rebellion began. About 360,000 people joined the fight. They attacked many government offices. The Emperor sent many armies to stop them. A young officer named Cao Cao helped fight the rebels. Other leaders like Huangfu Song also led troops. The fighting lasted for many years. It took until 205 AD to end all the fighting. This big change led to a new time in China called the Three Kingdoms period.
