It sits where the Yangtze River meets the East China Sea. This area includes the city of Shanghai. It also covers parts of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui. The land here is very fertile. This means the soil is great for growing food. Farmers grow lots of rice in the delta. People also catch many fish in the water.

More than 123 million people live here. That is about 9% of all people in China. Many big cities sit close together. Shanghai is a huge center for money and trade. Other big cities include Hangzhou, Suzhou, Ningbo, and Nanjing. The area has many large factories. They make things like cars and cloth.

The weather can be very different. Summers are hot and wet. Winters are cool and dry. Sometimes, it can get very cold in the winter. The region has many ways to travel. It has huge ports for ships. It also has the Hangzhou Bay Bridge. This is the longest bridge in the world that goes over the sea. It is 36 km long.
