His immense output helped define the musical standards of his time.

Mozart's musical journey began through intensive training by his father, Leopold. Leopold was a skilled pedagogue and a composer himself.

He taught Wolfgang and his sister, Nannerl, music and academic subjects. By age five, Wolfgang was already competent on the keyboard and violin. He had even begun composing his own small musical pieces.

These earliest works, known as K. 1–5, were recorded in the Nannerl Notenbuch.

To showcase his talent, the family embarked on grand tours of Europe. These travels included visits to Munich, Vienna, Prague, and London.

During these tours, Mozart met influential musicians like Johann Christian Bach. He also traveled to Italy, where he studied various musical styles. In Rome, he famously transcribed Gregorio Allegri's *Miserere* from memory. This was a rare feat because the piece was closely guarded by the Vatican.

After his travels, Mozart served as a court musician in Salzburg. He worked under the ruler, Prince-Archbishop Hieronymus Colloredo. During this period, he wrote several important violin concertos. He also began focusing on piano concertos, which became a major part of his work.

However, Mozart grew restless in Salzburg due to his low salary. He earned only 150 florins a year. He also wanted more opportunities to compose operas. This discontent eventually led him to seek employment in other cities.

In 1781, Mozart moved to Vienna, where he remained until his death.

This period brought him both fame and some financial success. He achieved significant recognition for works like the "Haydn" Quartets. He also composed more than a dozen piano concertos in Vienna. These concertos are often considered among his greatest artistic achievements. While he found fame, he did not always have long-term financial security.

In his final years, Mozart composed many of his most legendary pieces. These include the "Jupiter" symphony and the serenade *Eine kleine Nachtmusik*.

He also wrote famous operas such as *Don Giovanni* and *Die Zauberflöte*. His final project was the *Requiem*, a mass for the dead. This work remained largely unfinished at the time of his passing. Mozart died on 5 December 1791, at the age of 35.

Researchers use old newspaper stories and government records from archives. Most importantly, they study his surviving manuscripts, which include sketches and drafts. These documents allow scholars to trace the history and dating of his music. By analyzing these sources, biographers can better understand the complex man behind the music.
