Branham told stories of seeing angels. He also shared reports of miracles happening during his services. He claimed an angel gave him a special job in 1946. This event helped launch his career as a traveling preacher. His presence on stage was considered very powerful by those who watched him.

Branham was born on April 6, 1909, near Burkesville, Kentucky.

He grew up in a very poor family in a log cabin. His childhood was quite difficult and full of struggle. He said his family was involved in illegal work with liquor. In 1924, he was shot in both legs during a firearms incident. He later said this was a hunting accident. During this hard time, members of the Ku Klux Klan paid his hospital bills.

His path to ministry began after a serious accident. While working, he was overcome by gas and went to the hospital.

He said he heard a voice while he was recovering. This led him to join the First Pentecostal Baptist Church. Roy Davis, a church leader, baptized him and later made him a minister. In 1933, Branham held tent meetings that saw many new converts.

He later led a church in Jeffersonville, Indiana, called the Branham Tabernacle.

As time passed, Branham's ideas became different from other leaders. He taught a unique way of looking at the Bible. His closest followers call his teachings "The Message." They treat his sermons like holy scripture. Some other religious groups disagreed with his new ideas. Branham died in 1965 after a car accident.
