William Eggleston

arts Maturity 7-9 Next article →

William Eggleston is a famous American photographer. He is well known for using color in his art. Before him, many people thought color was not for fine art. Eggleston helped change that idea.

He uses a special way to print photos. This is called dye-transfer printing. This method makes colors look very deep and strong. One of his most famous photos is called "The Red Ceiling." In that picture, the red color looks very thick and wet.

Eggleston looks at the world in a unique way. He takes pictures of ordinary things. He might photograph old tires, soda machines, or street signs. He finds beauty in these simple objects. He believes that even small, everyday things are interesting to see.

He also makes music. He uses a machine called a synthesizer. This machine makes electronic sounds. He even made an album of these sounds. His music is a new way for him to share his art.
