Wilhelm Wien was a German physicist. He studied how heat and light work together.

Wien found a special rule for heat. This is called Wien's displacement law. It helps us know how much light a hot object gives off. It links the temperature of an object to its light. This work was very important for new science. He won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1911 for his discoveries.

Wien also made a tool called a Wien filter. This tool helps scientists study tiny particles. It uses electric and magnetic fields. These fields act like a filter. They let particles through based on their speed. This tool helps in electron microscopes.

While studying gas, Wien found a tiny particle. This particle has the same mass as a hydrogen atom. Later, scientists named this particle a proton.

Wien was a great teacher. He taught at many universities. He even taught at the University of Munich. His ideas helped start the study of quantum mechanics. This is a way of understanding how the tiny world works.
