Anderson uses many interesting ways to make his films. He often uses an ensemble cast. This means he works with the same group of actors many times. For example, Bill Murray and Owen Wilson appear in many of his movies. He also makes stop-motion films. This is a type of animation using puppets. He used this method for *Fantastic Mr. Fox* in 2009 and *Isle of Dogs* in 2018. He even made a short film called *The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar* using this style.

His journey as a filmmaker started when he was a young boy. He used a Super 8 camera to make silent films. These early films starred his brothers and his friends. He grew up in Houston, Texas. His parents were Melver Leonard Anderson and Texas Anne Anderson. He went to college at the University of Texas at Austin. While there, he met his future collaborator, Owen Wilson, in 1989. This meeting helped start his professional career.

Anderson has had many successful movies over the years. His film *Rushmore* came out in 1998 and became a big hit. In 2001, he made *The Royal Tenenbaums*, which earned him an Academy Award nomination. His movie *The Grand Budapest Hotel* was released in 2014. It was a huge success and earned nearly $175 million worldwide. That film even won four Academy Awards for things like costumes and music. He also won an Oscar for his short film in 2023.

His work connects to many different parts of art and history. He was inspired by filmmakers like Satyajit Ray. Anderson even traveled to India to film *The Darjeeling Limited* as a tribute. Some of his movies are so special they are kept in the National Film Registry. This includes *Rushmore* and *The Grand Budapest Hotel*. He also works with his brother, Eric Chase Anderson. Eric is an artist whose paintings appear in movies like *The Royal Tenenbaums*.
