Many vultures have bare heads with no feathers. This helps keep their heads clean when they eat. Bare skin also helps them stay at the right temperature. They hunch up in the cold. They stretch their necks in the heat. Some vultures even urinate on their legs to cool down. This helps kill germs from the carcasses they walk on.

Vultures are very helpful to our world. They have strong stomach acid. This acid lets them eat meat that has dangerous germs. It can even digest meat with anthrax.
