Vremya is a famous news show in Russia. It airs on Channel One. The show first started on January 1, 1968. It began in black and white. It has used color since 1974.

Most people watch the main show at 9:00 pm. Russia is a very large country. It has eleven different time zones. To help everyone, the station sends eleven separate feeds. This makes sure the news is fresh for each area. The show usually lasts 30 minutes. However, it can be longer for special events. It might stay on longer for big parades or ceremonies.

In the past, the show was part of the Soviet Union. During those days, the news was very tied to the government. It did not always tell the whole truth. Things changed in the late 1980s. New rules let the news be more open. This helped people learn about real changes in the world.

Today, Vremya is still a very important part of Russian TV. It has many different news updates throughout the day. It even has a special edition just for Sundays.
