They use these services to connect people through mobile phones.

This company grew through many steps and big deals. In 1980, Ernest Harrison worked with the UK General Electric Company. He wanted to use military radio technology for regular people to use.

In 1982, a partnership called Racal-Millicom won a license for a mobile phone network. This group became known as Vodafone on January 1, 1985. A comedian named Ernie Wise made the very first call on that day. Later, the company became its own separate group in 1991. This allowed the business to grow much faster.

Vodafone grew very large by buying other companies. In 1996, they bought a chain called Peoples Phone for £77 million.

A massive event happened in the year 2000. Vodafone made a bid to join with a German company named Mannesmann. This deal was worth £112 billion. At that time, it was the largest corporate merger ever seen. This helped Vodafone expand its reach across many different countries and networks.

Today, Vodafone is a major part of the global phone world. They own networks in 15 different countries.

They also have partner networks in 46 other countries. This means you can use their services in many places around the world. In 2024, Vodafone UK joined with a company called Three UK. This merger created the largest mobile network in the United Kingdom. It will help provide better 5G service to many people.

You can see how Vodafone connects to your daily life. When you use a mobile phone to call a friend, you might use their network.

They also work with many other brands to make phone use easier. For example, they use "partner networks" to help people travel. This allows a local brand to add "Vodafone" to its name. This way, travelers can use their phones even when they are far from home. It makes the whole world feel a little bit closer together.
