Many people call themselves "gamers." This includes people who play for fun and pros who play to win. Some people play on computers or consoles. Others play on mobile devices like smartphones.

Games are a very social way to meet people. Some friends meet at a LAN party. This is a party held at a home to play together. Large events also bring many fans to one place. You can also play with people all over the world using the Internet. Some players join groups called clans. These groups help players work together on quests.

Gamers also use special words to talk. They might say "GG" to mean "good game" at the end of a match. They might say "AFK" if they are "away from keyboard." This means they are not looking at the screen. Some people even watch others play through live streams. Playing games can be a way to make new friends. It helps people find others who like the same things.
