In the early 1800s, some thinkers had big dreams. They wanted to make a fair world. This way of thinking is called utopian socialism.

People like Charles Fourier and Robert Owen led this group. They imagined ideal societies where people lived in peace. They did not want big fights or wars to change things. Instead, they thought people could choose to be kind. They believed small groups could show others a better way. These groups were called intentional communities.

These thinkers often wrote books about their ideas. Edward Bellamy wrote a famous book called Looking Backward. It told a story about a future with shared goods. Another writer, William Morris, wanted all work to be art. He thought work should be fun and creative. Later, leaders like Karl Marx disagreed with them. Marx called his own ideas scientific socialism. He thought big changes and struggles were needed to fix society. Even so, many people still tried to live by these old dreams. Some groups in history were built on these ideas.
