Udayana was a great thinker from India. He lived about one thousand years ago. He was a master of logic. Logic is a way to use smart reasoning.

Udayana belonged to the Nyaya school of thought. He lived in a place called Mithila. He worked to join two different schools of logic. These were called Nyaya and Vaisheshika. His work helped start a new way of thinking. This new way is called Navya-Nyaya. It is still studied in parts of India today.

Udayana wrote many books. One famous book is called Nyayakusumanjali. In this book, he used logic to argue for the existence of God. He gave nine different reasons for this idea. For example, he said the world has causes. He believed a creator must be the cause of the world.

He also studied how we know things. This is called epistemology. He looked at how we use our senses. He also looked at how we use words. His books are still very important to many people. He was a very famous teacher in his time.
