In this rainy town, she meets a mysterious boy named Edward Cullen. Edward is a 104-year-old vampire. He belongs to a family that drinks animal blood to stay safe. The books explore the romance between Bella and Edward. They also look at a love triangle involving a werewolf named Jacob Black. People enjoy these stories because they mix magic with deep feelings.

The story moves through many exciting steps. First, Bella learns the secret of the Cullen family. In the second book, Edward leaves Forks to protect her. This makes Bella feel very sad. She becomes close friends with Jacob, who can shape-shift into a wolf.

American author Stephenie Meyer created this world. She released the four main novels every year from 2005 to 2008.

Since then, she has added more books. In 2010, she released a short story called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. In 2015, she wrote Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined. This version switches the genders of the main characters. In 2020, she published Midnight Sun. This book tells the first story again, but from Edward's point of view. Meyer continues to work on new stories for this world.

The series has seen huge success around the world. By August 2020, the books had sold more than 160 million copies. They are translated into 49 different languages.

The books have won many prizes. For example, Breaking Dawn won a British Book Award in 2008. The whole series won a Kids' Choice Award in 2009. The books also stayed on the New York Times Best Seller list for a long time. Many people have even seen the stories as movies made by Summit Entertainment.
