When he took the throne, he changed things. He wanted to bring back the old ways. He stopped the worship of Aten. Instead, he made the god Amun important again. He even changed his name to Tutankhamun. This new name honored the god Amun. 
Tutankhamun died unexpectedly at age 18. Some experts think he had malaria and a broken leg. Because his tomb was not finished, he was buried in a small tomb.
In 1922, workers found his tomb. Howard Carter led the team. They found over 5,000 items inside. Many things were made of gold. This discovery made people all over the world curious about Egypt. Today, his gold mask is a famous symbol of his reign.
