It helps solve fights or claims. Many people think a tribunal is a court. But tribunals are often less formal. This means they have simpler rules. They do not always use strict legal steps. In Australia, people often go to tribunals themselves. They do not always need a lawyer.

The word comes from ancient Rome. Back then, leaders were called tribunes. A tribunal was the high platform where they sat. Sitting high showed they had power over the law.

Different places use tribunals for different things. In India, some help with taxes or food safety. In New Zealand, they help with small money fights. Some help with land or renting homes. In the Catholic Church, tribunals handle church laws. In Ireland, they look into important public matters. These groups help make sure things are handled quickly. They help solve problems that regular courts might not reach.
