It is a mix of nuts and dried fruit. People often add granola or candy. Some mixes have seeds or pretzels too. It is a great snack for hikes. It is light to carry in a bag. It also gives you power for your walk. Dried fruit gives a quick boost. Nuts help you keep going for a long time.

People have eaten this for a long time. A man named Horace Kephart wrote about it in 1910. He put it in a book for campers. Many people have different names for it. In North America, hikers call it gorp. Some say gorp means "good ol' raisins and peanuts." In New Zealand, they call it scroggin. In many parts of Europe, it is called student fodder. This is food for students.
