His career is defined by incredible longevity and a massive collection of records.

Brady's path to greatness involved many difficult steps. In high school, he began as a backup on a junior varsity team. That team was so struggling they did not score a single touchdown all year. He eventually became a varsity starter during his junior year. At the University of Michigan, he faced even more challenges. He spent time as a backup while others led the team. To manage his frustration and anxiety, he even hired a sports psychologist. He also worked with assistant athletic director Greg Harden to build his confidence.

These mental tools helped him become a leader for the Michigan Wolverines.

His early life provided the foundation for his competitive spirit. Born on August 3, 1977, in San Mateo, California, he grew up in a Catholic household. As a child, he attended San Francisco 49ers games at Candlestick Park. He idolized their quarterback, Joe Montana. He even watched Montana make the famous "The Catch" at age four.

Brady was also a talented baseball player in high school. The Montreal Expos drafted him in the 18th round of the 1995 MLB draft. They believed he could be one of the greatest catchers ever. However, he chose to pursue football at Michigan instead.

At Michigan, Brady proved he could handle high-pressure moments. He started every game during the 1998 and 1999 seasons. In the 2000 Orange Bowl, he led a major comeback against Alabama. He threw for 369 yards and four touchdowns in that game.

Brady's professional statistics are nearly unmatched in NFL history.
