The Brazilian yellow scorpion is a very dangerous animal. It lives in Brazil. Most of these scorpions live in cities now. They like to stay near homes. They find food like cockroaches in trash heaps. They can live for months without eating.

This scorpion has pale-yellow legs. Its body is a darker yellow. It has a thick tail with ridges. The tail has a sharp barb. This barb can sting to catch prey. It can also sting to protect itself.

The venom is very strong. It contains a neurotoxin. This is a poison that attacks the nervous system. The venom can cause many problems. A person might feel fever or pain. They might also have a fast heart rate. In bad cases, the venom can stop the lungs or heart.

Many people in Brazil get stung by scorpions. In 2018, there were 140,000 stings reported. This was much higher than in the year 2000. Scientists think more scorpions live in cities now. This happens because of new buildings and less forest.
